Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene delivered his mid-term budget earlier today. Here are a few points taken from his speech: 1. R620 million is allocated for the digital broadcast migration programme. 2. The government officials trips, booking of conference venues and catering and consultant services have all been stopped. 3. R32.6 million will go towards Department of Health for Ebola control and prevention measures 4. Government will provide at least R20 billion of funding to Eskom, raised through the sale of non-strategic assets 5. The government hopes to save about R1.3 billion over the next two years.
