Financial Aid 101: Financial Aid is broken down in two parts Merit Based(academics) & Need Based(low income) Can a student obtain both? Yes. if they qualify! Parents, if you have kids who will graduate high school in 2015 with aspirations of attending a college or university in the Fall 2015 now is the time for you and your child to research schools if you havent started already. There are so many wonderful colleges and university with great programs based on a students interest and career path. Check out the course curriculums, cost of attendance( in state vs out of state) the culture of the school, students and faculty, what university grants & scholarships the school offers and the GPA needed to obtain them. Lastly, Please! Please! Please! make sure your kids are hitting the books to put in the work to keep the GPA moving towards a 3.0 or higher. The hard work they put into the books now, will payoff in your pockets later. Remember shopping for education is just like shopping for a car or anything else, you want your child to get the best education for the bucks. You have a right to compare what each school is offering and its a good healthy learning environment for your child. Just thought I would share this info to help you get started in the right direction!!!
