Financial Conclave on Companies Act 2013 - A Way to Corporate Democracy Date: 20th December, 2014 The session on Corporate Governance was moderated by Dr. A.K. Sengupta, Director/Mentor of SIESCOMS. The panelists for this session were Prof. Sunder Ram Korivi - Dean of School for Securities Education (SSE), NISM, Mr. Vikram Bohra - Partner at PwC and Ms. Chitra Bhandari from SEBI. This was followed by a technical Session on Related Party Transactions(RPTs) and the challenges faced by private and closely held companies. The panelist for this session was Mr.Sharad Abhyankar - Partner at Khaitan & Co. Solicitors. For the next part of the session, Mr. Ramesh Srinivasan, Joint MD, Kotak Investment Banking acted as the moderator and introduced the panel members, namely, Mr. Gopal Agarwal - Institutional Investment Advisory Services, Mr. Ram Iyer - Head of Accounts at Siemens Financial Services Private Ltd and Mr. Sharad Abhyankar - Partner at Khaitan & Co., Solicitors The panel discussion was on Insider Trading and Shareholder Activism. Mr. Ramesh Srinivasan also discussed certain adages such as Buy on Rumour-sell on news. The concluding session was a technical discussion on Independent Directors, Committees, and Audit by Ms. Geeta Fulwadaya, GM-Corporate Secretarial at Reliance.
