Financially strapped people looking for quick cash is common. Unfortunately, thieves looking for scam victims are common too. The advanced fee scam has scammers posing as representatives from phony companies, using authentic-looking documents, emails and websites to appear legitimate, luring victims into paying money in anticipation of receiving something of greater value – such as a loan, contract, investment, grant or gift - and then receives little or nothing in return.
