Finding the right person to marry need not be a Herculean task if man can see and know what is deeper than the surface identity of a person. If he were to be able, man would not need to depend on God as regards this issue. Also, there should not be the need for finding the suitable partner if he has the ability to know who is right for him. In our quest for choosing the right partner, we often depend so much on the physical attributes such as maturity, love, compatibility, patience and the likes to determine who we spend the rest of our life with. The physical preparation process is highly needful as much as the spiritual aspect of the search cannot be omitted. A man/woman can be all you need in a spouse and yet few years after marriage, you are seeking for a separation or divorce. Others may see them to be perfect couples but God may not have guaranteed their union in the first place. This is why he/she that finds a spouse finds a good thing… Note, to find one, you need God and not depend on your intuition. You must also get His approval. Why do I need God’s approval? God sees beyond what we know at present. A man/woman can be caring, loving or supportive initially and turn out to be something else in the future. Then, you’ll start asking why. He knows the inward intent of the heart of men. Our physical senses cannot identify deceit or pretense. We need God to show us the real intention of the heart of men so that we don’t get trapped in deception. Man’s perception is limited, he cannot know the end from the beginning. In our search, we need God to approve who we want to marry before we commit our heart fully to the relationship. He knows the outcome of the relationship you are yet to start. How can I get God’s approval on who to marry? First, a relationship with God prior to marriage must have been established. A lot of people only get closer to God when they want to marry. Mind you, you will be confused. You need to have developed your spiritual senses to discern between God’s voice, the devil and that of the flesh. Fellowship with Him prayerfully and with the daily meditation of His word. Be filled with His spirit and train your spiritual senses to recognize His voice. It is not a one-day-activity. Take off the idols you must have engraved in your heart. Many people wish to marry brother A or sister B and think about them often. Carrying this in mind, they go to God in prayers asking for approval. You will be sure to get approval based on the idol (person) you adore the most. Having a list of many options you’d prefer as an intended spouse is the greatest order of confusion. Ensure you have a free and clean mind so that you’d experience peace even when He approves His will for you. Do not rely on dreams alone. Dreams sometimes come due to the multitude of business or activities one must have carried out physically and in the mind in the course of the day. Go to a trusted spiritual head who is spirit filled to guide you in this process. Don’t be desperate. Out of pressure and desperation, many have become impatience to wait on God on His will for who to marry. You must be patient and allow Him to get it done in His right timing. Delay doesn’t mean denial. Love, compatibility, maturity or sharing similar purpose in life is not enough on deciding on who to marry. If it were to be, there shouldn’t be cases of divorce, domestic violence or separation in some marriages. While single, build an intimate relationship with God and don’t lean on your understanding (physical senses). It is better that God approves who you want to marry than to depend on what you see, know or hear. It is safer to trust in God than to trust in man.
