Finding this business class travel debate amusing. What I understand: 1. AK is to receive the award of Asias most inspiring and young social change maker at the World Brands Summit, Dubai. 2. AK will also address the Abu Dhabi chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. 3. Subsequently he will fly to New York, where he will address the students of the School of International and Public Affairs at the Columbia University, and interact with the Indian community. 4. The organisers have booked his air tickets - business class at that. 5. AK is traveling to Dubai as planned and provided by the organisers. 6. AAP has publicly disclosed the reason for the trip and who is funding the trip. 7. Neither AK nor AAP have ever opposed business class travel by private individuals. 8. Both AK and AAP have raised the issue of expectation of probity from public representatives when they use/demand perks, to be funded by the taxpayers. 9. Neither AK nor AAP have ever opposed business class travel by public representatives when the bill is not being paid from the taxpayers money and adequate disclosures made. 10. Both AK and AAP have raised the issue of certain public representatives who travel on private jets owned by certain individuals/ companies, without due disclosure of funding and intent. So, where is the controversy? Am I missing something? Keen to understand the viewpoint of those who think otherwise. - by Ankit Saxena
