Fine Gael Dublin South West Senator, Cáit Keane, has expressed her concern at recent reports that the Central Bank is to spend million of euro renovating its offices. “Recent reports suggest that the Central Bank is planning to spend millions of euro over the next few years doing up its offices. The move was revealed when the Bank advertised online for a consultancy firm to take on a four-year refurbishment contract. “This is a shocking move, given the country’s current financial straits. It’s unbelievable that the Bank would even consider spending such vast sums of taxpayers’ money on redecoration in this economic climate.” “I find it questionable that public funds would be used towards a project of this kind when cheap, vacant office space is available right across Dublin. This is a matter of public concern and the Central Bank has a responsibility to clarify precisely what the scale, value and nature of this refurbishment project will be.”
