Fine discussion with Roger Scruton on moral relativism. PJW summarizing: De facto the relativists wind up making their subjective morality into a kind of objective morality - i.e., they treat their subjective morality as if it is in fact absolute and objective. Ha! Great observation! Of course, regarding rights, until only after WWII they have been considered only negative rights, i.e., which is the basis of liberty. Rather the now assertion of positive rights is nothing but claims...claims on whatever a person wants. Claims we make against each other. The positive right then entails the element of who then is responsible to provide that which is claimed. youtu.be/l5BXyvMU80Q
