Fines for parents who take kids away out of term time are futile...and insulting. ...my Son has had opportunities to travel to amazing places and his mum took him. He had unique experiences and developed lots of life skills along the way. All during term time. All he got from school was earache and pressure to achieve their stupid and pointless targets for them. He still walked away with a very healthy bunch of GCSEs...and even then he was forced into taking subjects early, often resulting in him scoring great grades, but putting him off continuing subjects he really enjoyed before he was pushed too hard too soon. The education system is broken and has been for two decades, at least, so I think its time they start fixing it and stop trying to blame parents who make sensible choices about what they do with their own kids when they decide to. School doesnt own our kids. They are not illegally parked cars. Stop treating them like it!
