Finished Morriseys Autobiography. The bit where hes in the Smiths - TopicsExpress

Finished Morriseys Autobiography. The bit where hes in the Smiths is only a fifth of the book. He comes across as a whiny, bitter, paranoid man. The stuff about the court case (which must be nearly as long as the bit about actually being in the Smiths) is a huge, possibly libellious, rant where he accuses the judge and his legal representatives of bias. Everything from losing the court case to misprints on an album cover is some kind of anti-Morrisey conspiracy. But the worst thing about the book is the we never find out anything about Morrisey. Its a list of stuff that happened to him, he doesnt appear to actually do anything. He doesnt say anything about his songwriting, about if he came out to his family; he says little about interactions with other people or how he feels about things. Im by no means a Morrisey or Smiths expert, but I didnt learn much from this book.
