Finished Season One of Hannibal. To me, this tv series is on par with the original Hannibal Lecter novel, Thomas Harriss 1981 Red Dragon, and better than any of the movies. Lecter is played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. Virtually no back story is given, and he comes across as unknowable. He is cruel to survive, or satisfy his curiosity. Like his psychiatrist, played by Gillian Anderson, says, it is like he is wearing a perfectly tailored person suit. When he kills, it is to maintain it. Watch Season One first, for it to make any sense. Another reason I like it is its departing from the universe of the books and novels, and going somewhere new.
