Finished meeting with Melanie Walter, principal of the Belmont High School; had a tour of school & classes, talked to many teachers & students. The school is on a great path, with improving academics and safety, and falling suspensions and other disciplinary actions. On a related note, parents really need to encourage their kids to take the Spanish classes offered there - unfortunately, not too many kids seize the opportunity to learn a major foreign language.
