Finished watching the series finale of The Newsroom. 3 seasons isnt quite the number I wanted. But better that they finished strong early than had a weaker final season like say...... Boardwalk Empire had. And the final episode was very good. Dev Patel only had one real scene in the last 4 episodes. His entire role on this series was WAY too small. Hes a terrific actor and I hope he lands a bigger part down the line. But he had a great one here. Destroying a troll who thinks The Hurt Locker, The Matrix and Gravity are overrated. Gotta love that. :) The episode before last had a twist that really blew me away. Never thought a drama about the TV news show could have a Usual Suspects/Sixth Sense style twist, but somehow they managed to do it. Nicely done. The 3 seasons of The Newsroom is nowhere near as good the first 3 seasons of The West Wing, BUT its a terrific Aaron Sorkin TV show. Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterson alone are reason enough to check the show out. Daniels won the Emmy and he deserved it. Hes freaking great as Will Will McAvoy. Sorkin says hes done with TV. Im fine with that. Personally, I wish he stopped with The West Wing and stuck with movies like The Social Network and Moneyball. I guess now hes finally going to make a permanent move to films and thats a good thing. As far as current TV shows go, The Newsroom was damn good.
