Finishing up the rest of the story for Joseph Power, he died of a sudden illness in 1948 after 33 years of service. By March of 1949 daughters Elsie and Irene had written to John M. Ely to inform him that after a difficult adjustment period their mother, Ann had completely lost her vision and would not be able to approve the marker design. She was living in the Washington DC and Maryland area with her daughters.
