Fire - day 2 The fire roared through almost 100 hectares of mountainside and state forest last night - cant bear to think of the little animals trapped :( . The wind has swung again, and although its still burning steadily towards us, the smoke is blowing away towards Port Alfred and Bathurst. Our neighbours at Trentham Park are now also in the direct line of the fire but are all on standby. My poor old pensioner horses Surprise and Tokkie and 4 of the old donks, Boris, Sophie, Sandy and old Neddy are all coughing dreadfully this morning from the smoke - so getting them comfortable is our first priority.I sound like a 60-a-day smoker too ;) Our beautiful ancient yellow-wood forest where the vervet monkeys and porcupines live is directly below the fire now and in its path :( .Please dear God let the fire not reach that little paradise................
