Fire Department We have approximately 240 Smoke Alarms for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing left. With them having a 10 year battery life and closing in on 2 years of life already we would like to get these in the hands of those who need them. Anyone in our community that is in need of this special smoke alarm please contact the Fire Dept. for an application. Each recipient must fill out an application to make sure they meet the grant guideline/qualifications. Children under the age of 18 do not qualify for these alarms and there is an annual income requirement that must be met. If you have someone in your community that qualifies for one of these alarms you must be willing to go out and install it. For more information or would like to apply please contact Pam Bright at 1-317-232-6632 or visit in.gov/dhs .
