Fire Update Aug 6, 2014 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Logging Unit incident seen some smoke production yesterday, in the Parker Creek area at the base of Mt Jefferson.... several new fires were attacked by IA resources also. We expect high winds through Friday and perhaps a return of lightning Friday through the weekend... The season is far from over... we have over 500 personnel here on the NeNe Fire and on the Logging unit fire.... that may be reduced in a transition that is scheduled to take place Friday also.... One of the watchout situations we have that is not part of the 18 is transition.... because of the transfer of command and all other functions of fire there will be a lag in information, direction and the strategy and tactics will change.... that period of time is critical to the line personnel if any fire behavior events that have high potential for escape, extreme fire behavior or other hazards to line personnel... the command and general staff will be busy handing over the fire from one team team to another.... the key message here is.... Maintain high situational awareness.... the 10 and 18 and watch out for one another in the transition time.... we are in this time Friday and things could happen to the fires... we dont want things happening to firefighters... IFPLs are the same as well as fire danger 4 and extreme.... A general burn ban is in effect for all of Warm Springs We are on day 26 for fire activity and IA and there is still a month ahead of us for fire activity.... Have a good day all.... we are at the ready... being re-energized and will respond to any fires that occur... all other Northwest tribes are now entering extreme conditions, fire rage across the west and there is no let up in sight.... Historic Fire Season folks.... HISTORIC like someone I know had predicted.....
