Fire update- Gerry ODay - ON AIR NOW 2-7 PM West Kelowna, B.C. – Structural fire crews from West Kelowna and Peachland are supporting BC Wildfire Management fire fighters on the active Drought Hill forest fire. Firefighters are working on the ground reinforcing fire guards with air tanker and water bomber support on the blaze, which is estimated at 30-hectares in size. The Visitor Information Centre on the south side of the Okanagan Connector - Highway 97C across from the fire is closed today in order to ensure public safety and the safety of air and ground crews that are fighting the fire. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reminds motorists of westbound and eastbound lane closures along Highway 97C the Okanagan Connector, approximately four kilometers from the junction with Highway 97. Watch for emergency vehicles in the area due to the Drought Hill fire. For the latest information visit drivebc.ca Emergency response personnel request that the public: • Slow down on Highway 97C through the fire zone and stay away from emergency vehicles.
