Firefighters continue to hit area fires hardFires in Josephine County and the Douglas Complex of Fires continue to be hit hard by firefighters from around the state and country.An evacuation center has been established at Glendale Elementary which has a capacity of 187. Red Cross Volunteer Donda King said three residents took advantage of the shelter Saturday night and six were registered to stay Sunday night. She said citizens have been in and out throughout the day to get food, water and some shelter from the elements.A town hall meeting presented by the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Glendale City Council is being held in front of Glendale Elementary at 4:00 p.m. to squelch fire rumors. Officials say word of mouth and social media has been spreading panic through the population and they wanted residents to know they are fighting this fire with all they have. False rumors of evacuations are being spread online and officials warn residents to be weary of these posts. There have however been a couple new evacuations in Poorman Creek, Willow Creek and Wolf Creek areas.The Douglas Complex of Fires is currently estimated at over 7,500 acres.In Josephine County fires, the Big Windy Fire 10 miles west of Galice has grown to 1,500 acres, the Brimstone Fire five miles west of Sunny Valley has grown to 200 acres and the Farmer Gulch Fire located near Wolf Creek is holding steady at 70 acres. The Big Windy Fire is being managed by a federal incident management team and they have closed Bear Camp Road.The Labrador Fire, located in the Illinois Valley approximately one mile southwest of Briggs Creek Campground, has grown to approximately 400 acres.
