Firestone Flats Fire Update Jurisdiction: Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, Lake County Saturday, August 3rd – 8:00 a.m. Size – Estimated 1,570 acres 100% Contained Discovered: 6 miles east of Arlee, MT on Saturday, July 27th,1:58 p.m. Cause: Human, Investigation continues Fuels: Timber (litter and understory) Weather: Scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms today. Temperatures are expected to rise and the precipitation will decrease over the next several days. Management Strategy: Full Suppression. M Today’s Activity: The management of the fire has transitioned to a local Type 3 organization. Fire crews will continue mopping up and monitoring the fire. Demobilization will continue for unnecessary equipment and crews today. The Type 2 team is also demobilizing. This will be the final update unless there are significant changes. Thanks!
