First Aid for Littilies Mums and Dads! Would you know what to do if your baby stopped breathing? What about if your toddler choked on a toy? How serious is a fever? Tummy upsets? Bumps on the head? How do you know if your baby is unwell? When do you need to see a doctor? When should you call an ambulance? Learn about choking, CPR, burns, fevers, concussion, allergic reactions, and lots more. A practical, child-focused First Aid Course run by a former Ambulance Paramedic, experienced First Aid Instructor and Mum to two young children. The course is aimed at parents/carers of under 5s and is very child-specific and hands-on. Manikins are used to practice CPR and choking prevention, and the course covers various child-specific illnesses (croup, febrile convulsions, meningitis, etc - how to recognise them and what to do about them) and how to deal with other emergency situations like burns, allergic reactions, poisonings and bangs on the head. It also covers common childhood illnesses like fevers, coughs, colds, vomiting - and how to recognise when you need to take your baby or toddler to the doctor. Plus advice on safety around the home and car seats. The course will be run at the Meadowbank Plunket rooms on the 11th of June and 10th of September,7.30pm - 9.30pm and the cost is $20 per person.
