First China-Australia film festival kicks off in Brisbane The first #China-#Australia film festival has been launched in #Brisbane, Australia, in the hope of enhancing mutual understanding through film. The festival coincides with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s trip to Australia for both the #G20 Summit and a state visit. Co-organized by China’s #Film and TV Administration and the Film Producers’ Association, the 6-day event features 10 classic Chinese and Australian films, such as #AmericanDreamsinChina and Beijing Love Story. The Australian features are #PaperPlanes and Charlie’s Country. To show China’s modern day society to Australian audiences, the organizers picked up several of the latest home-made films that represent the epitome of the Chinese society. #Dearest was screened during the festival. Upon its release at home, the film gained popularity and applause for its deep concerns over #childtrafficking. Meanwhile, other festival films depict the delicate emotions and mindsets of the Chinese people. For instance, the Nightingale shows ordinary people’s introspection on issues including promises, success, money and the meaning of life.
