First Fridays was a highly collaborative community initiative launched in 2011 to spur economic development and showcase the Greater Lansing area. Recently, it was decided that the program should be discontinued as the organizers -- all volunteers – determined that it was no longer sustainable. First Fridays requires an enormous amount of resources in order to be successful and these resources have become increasingly difficult to secure. The community will have a final opportunity to travel around town for free on the evening of May 2 when CATA provides free rides on Entertainment Express starting at 5:30 p.m. and system-wide starting at 7 p.m. This will be the last time free transportation will be offered in conjunction with First Fridays. The rides have been generously underwritten by Team Lansing Foundation and MSU Federal Credit Union. Thanks to all who have helped promote First Fridays over the last three years.
