First, I am deeply saddened by the outright murder of Officers - TopicsExpress

First, I am deeply saddened by the outright murder of Officers Ramos and Lui but I am also disturbed by the dialogue here on facebook. This isnt about cops being bad and young black men deserving to die or cops being heroes. The murder of these two brave and good peace officers is tragic and horrific. Obama is not to blame here, nor is the mayor or protesters. Cops are not the enemies either. They have a thankless job to do and are sent to enforce laws that they dont control. They are human. They do a good job of keeping our city safe and relatively calm. Eric Garners death is senseless. Michael Brown is dead for a host of reasons which are far more complicated than a protest or a grand jury will ever fix. We apply the law unevenly in our nation and always have. We do not like the poor. We try to keep them unseen in many ways. We vilify those that are different than us (lynching victims had always been accused of something nefarious). We rarely come together to join as one voice. Walk a day in the life of someone who is very unlike yourself. Imagine yourself the cop; now imagine yourself as Eric Ganrer or John Crawford (not talked about much but that shooting was VERY tragic) If you think it wouldnt be different than the perspective you have now, you are deluding yourself. All lives matter. End the violence. Peace on earth for all.
