First, I tell you to pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to Him. 1 Timothy 2:1 Although God is all-powerful and all-knowing, He has chosen to let us help Him change the world through our prayers. How this works is a mystery to us because of our limited understanding, but it is a reality. Paul based his instruction about prayer for everyone on his conviction that Gods invitation for salvation extends equally to all people. The word everyone captures the nature of the gospel. The world that God loves includes every person. He loves us as individuals whom He knows intimately. Paul urges us to pray for all people. Our earnest prayers will have powerful results. The Christians most powerful resource is communion with God through prayer. The results are often greater than we thought were possible. Some people see prayer as a last resort to be tried when all else fails. This approach is backward. Prayer should come first. Because Gods power if infinitely greater than ours, it only makes sense to rely on it - especially because God encourages us to do so. We raise our children the best we know how. Then one day, they venture out on their own. But as parents, does our job end when they are on their own? Be challenged to pray for your children daily, interceding on their behalf asking God for His presence, His grace, His healing, and His blessings. Your faithfulness in doing so will make a difference in their lives and the lives of others whom they touch. Father, I lift up my children to You. I pray that You will guide and protect them. Send Your Holy Spirit to grow their hearts in compassion and grace that they may honor You. Amen
