First, I want to thank all my friends and family for the massive amounts of support, prayers and well wishes. Karen Allen Brightbill, Laney Brightbill, and Mason Brightbill have been taking really good care of me. Because of them, and all of you, I consider myself the most blessed man on the face of the earth. Update: I finished my last awesome sauce (chemo) treatment at Tammy Walker Cancer Center last Friday. You’ll notice that I had to have my Wildcat cup handy representing my alma matter. You wouldn’t believe how many staff members are Jayhawks there…the place is crawling with em. I have been under the supervision of a group of Lymphoma specialists at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. I was told that NLPHL (Nodular Lymphocyte-Predominant Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) is a very rare form of Hodgkins, it is very curable, and there really aren’t a lot of studies on it. But also, NLPHL has the highest reoccurrence rate of any lymphoma, and/or could return as an aggressive non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Also, the fact that I had CLPHL (Classic Lymphocyte -Predominant Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) back in 1985 significantly increases my chances of losing the cancer lottery for a third time within the next 10-12 years. Taking all this into consideration, my doctors have recommended the next step should be an autologous stem cell/bone marrow transplant (using my own cells), starting as early as February 2nd. I would do this instead of addition chemo. I still need a couple of blood tests and a good result on my next PETscan, but I’m very confident it will be. I couldn’t believe how quickly the awesome sauce worked on shrinking my existing tumors. I can’t even find them anymore. Love to all of you, Mark
