First I would like to say "thank you" to Jose for being the best - TopicsExpress

First I would like to say "thank you" to Jose for being the best sherpa and support crew around. Second, a "thank you" goes out to my Coach Eric Doehrman for getting me to the start line despite various obstacles. I am very fortunate that I was able to complete my SEVENTH Ironman. A few numbers/statistics/facts from Ironman Wisconsin 2013: 1. Final time of 12:20:27 was a Personal Best/Record (by about 3 minutes) 2. Swim (2.4 miles) was 1 hour 18 minutes and 14 seconds 3. Transition from Swim to Bike was 9 minutes, 48 seconds 4. Bike (112 miles) was 5 hours, 56 minutes, 43 seconds 5. Transition from Bike to Run was 6 minutes, 46 seconds 6. Run (26.2 miles) was 4 hours, 48 minutes, 56 seconds 7. Total calories burned were approximately 7,900 8. Total calories consumed were approximately 1,900 (not good compared to amount burned) 9. Swim was choppy and tough. I was kicked, pushed and swum over repeatedly. Conditions were similar to inside a washing machine. 9. Bike was hilly and windy and needed complete focus the entire time. 10. Run was going well until painful side stitches at mile 16 forcing me to jog/walk for 4-5 miles. Those miles were a dark space for me and once I pulled out and dealt with side stitches best I could, I finished strong and with a Personal Best. 11. A couple of my favorite signs on course: "You know, it was tiring making all of these signs." and "Can you hurry up, my arms are tired from holding this sign?" 12. Two bathroom breaks on bike and two on the run, because as they often say: "Never trust a fart during an Ironman." 12. Overall, weather was cloudy and cooler which made for great race conditions. 13. I lost 50 pounds over the last four months in the process of getting ready for this race.
