First I would like to say that, this is just sharing my own - TopicsExpress

First I would like to say that, this is just sharing my own personal thoughts. The love and support from around the country is so encouraging, not only to the Martin family, but also the family of God, as we pull together in prayer and unity for our dearly loved Martin family. So many visible signs of this love and concern, and such unity in standing together for the miracle in the making!! But there is something on my mind that I would like to share. Not too long ago someone in a similar situation said to me, I know people mean well, I just have to overlook it. It made me think... YOU shouldnt be the one having to overlook someone, it should be the other way around! WE should be the ones weighing our words carefully, limiting our questions and making sure that our conversations are...Words Fitly Spoken! Words are so powerful, so encouraging, so uplifting,....OR so draining, so painful. Maybe there should be a book written on Things NOT to say during a hospital stay. One of the first things it should address is....take questions out of the conversation. Allow them to share information as they feel comfortable and in their timing. Follow their lead in a conversation, reflect back to them their choice of topic , show support for their concerns, and most importantly, dont ask questions about things not being discussed and what they possibly dont even know the answer. Also remove questions from texts. While texts are a great way to send a little thinking of you note, if it contains questions, it puts pressure to respond. A text with words fitly spoken would be encouraging, caring and supportive. Lets weigh our words, and use as our guideline, scriptures like...Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones, Proverbs 16:24. Let our motto be: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11 Lets only share golden apples!
