First, Im humbled to be invited here...I sincerely thank you. To me, Randy was all about heart, it definitely showed in his playing. His dedication and ability through countless hours of practice proved to me that if you love something deeply enough you can achieve your ambitions and more. I have learned alot about this fine soul through the years thanks to the internet and stories shared by his friends and people who knew him best, especially here on FB. In 1981, I was 19 when I was introduced to this genius...dumbfounded to say the least. He was groundbreaking, a new sound and way to play. I was so sad when he passed, it made me grow up fast. What struck me the most was by how his family must have felt after they got the news that dreadful day, that bothered me greatly. How heartwrenching that must have been for them. My heart goes out to them to this day. So now I tell young kids who are interested in music to listen closely to all the material he left us. I found out that all the music he created and played was actually a lesson in playing for anyone who would be interested in learning his craft. You were a student of his and youd never know it, but he did. He knew that people would want to play his music, and when they tried they developed alot of respect for him even more so, he taught you how to play in that sense. Even if you played guitar prior to Randys influence, you know he had it and excelled at it as well. I think that says alot for the character of this man. I dont worship Randy. I admire his talent and dedication. You dont need and ego, if your good it comes through on your sleeve when you are heard. He surely helped me realize how important and fragile life is and how each day is a gift. Its been 33 years since I first heard his notes and to this day his music is as fresh and true as it was then. I often reflect back and wonder what could have been, yet lucky enough to have been graced with what we only have to reflect back upon. He most certainly is one of a kind. A kind of magic. I wish to thank Honey Michele Wright for thinking of me and adding me here. I especially thank you Tami Forward, Kathy and Kelli for letting us show our appreciation here. Randy most certainly rocked a house or two...and still does. And so do all of you.
