First Love Revelations 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against - TopicsExpress

First Love Revelations 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. In first grade, I was totally in love with this certain boy, or so I thought. Most would say that your first love was really infatuation. Infatuation is an extremely emotional attachment to someone and I was emotionally attached, but it did not last very long. True love, however, has an enduring, unconditional spiritual quality. Though it may waiver or even stray, there is a call to return to it. When Jesus did an assessment of the church at Ephesus, He determined that they had left (abandoned) the love that they had at first (they had deserted Him, their first love). He asked them to take a stroll down memory lane to see how far they had fallen away from Him. The call is still relevant today. Take a walk with the Holy Spirit. Are you infatuated with God or does your love for Him have that enduring spiritual quality? If it is the former, He bids you to repent and return to Him, your first true love. Scripture Reference: Revelations 2:3-5; I John 1:9 Prayer for today: Father, I am not infatuated, I am in love with you. Holy Spirit, teach me God’s word, how to stay in love, and how to increase my love for my first love, God my Father. In JESUS name, AMEN. Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept his grace and make it a sweatless day. Love Dianne
