First NS was made compulsory - to protect the country we live in. - TopicsExpress

First NS was made compulsory - to protect the country we live in. I think people were proud to be able to do that. Then NS became a chore because men had to delay their education and dont receive equal pay as regulars when they serve NS although the job and responsibilities are equal. Now, I think NS is something all men want to skip because it doesnt leave you for another 10 years. Not only are you still required to serve NS, you still need to take the IPPT and if you fail, you are punished. Worst, there is still every chance that you may get charged for what you do as a civilian if the boundaries cross into the NS Act. Whatever the case, as a Singaporean, you just learn to follow the law. Challenging the law for the betterment of others without due legal process is frowned upon.
