First Sunday of Lent A Friday Matthew 5:20-26 (ANGER) Jesus - TopicsExpress

First Sunday of Lent A Friday Matthew 5:20-26 (ANGER) Jesus says it is not enough that we dont kill our neighbors. We should not be ANGRY As well. Getting angry is our response when we get wronged, offended, or violated. Usually the blood pressure shoots up and the voice gets louder. In such situation the angry person can fight or flight ( be aggressive or walk out). How could you not get angry? Psychologists say that anger is a primary, natural, and mature emotion experienced by virtually all humans at a certain time. Jesus got angry himself. Remember when he created a scene at the temple turning tables around? By not getting angry, Jesus does not mean not feeling bad about the person harming. Emotions are virtually uncontrollable. Jesus means you dont will the harm of the offending person. You even pray for them. Jesus does not mean also that it is a sin to get angry when you get angry at sin. Jesus is always angry at sin. On a sideline, what is it that makes most of us angry? Usually it is when someone has shown a lack of respect for us. The image we have of ourselves is offended, and that makes us furious. But.....is our image that important to us? Is anyone elses opinion really worth getting angry about? Mariah Carey once sang, (it is a little selfie, but it surely is not angry....got to search...thank you youtube! Muah!) they can say anything they want to say, trying to bring me down, but i will not allow anyone to succeed hanging clouds over me...they can do anyting they want to you if you let them in, but they wont win if you cling to your pride and just pushed them aside...See I, i have learned, there is an inner peace I own, something in my soul that they cannot possess, so I wont be afraid and the darkness will fade. No oh oh, They cant take this Precious love Ill always have inside me, Certainly the Lord will guide me where I need to go...... My Lord, help me always to overcome the temptation to be happy at the tragedy of the enemy. Purify me as I pray that we, your children, should always abhore sin.
