First Week Home (Day 68) - It has been a busy week back at home - TopicsExpress

First Week Home (Day 68) - It has been a busy week back at home for the first full week since June. Noah has started soccer and enjoying being back at school. Some old friends have moved back to the neighborhood and he has spent the weekend running, shooting nerf guns and enjoying the beautiful weather. Megan is adjusting to being at home (finally) and working on school work and 4-H projects. She was elected vice president of her club yesterday. She is also very excited about mock trial and has her first practice this afternoon. Unfortunately, we havent been able to cut through all the red tape and paperwork necessary to get her back into some formal class time or tutoring. Definite priority for the week. We went out to Ankeny Diner on Thursday evening and remembered the last time we were there. It was for Megans birthday, just a week before her diagnosis. Kind of a full circle moment for us. Friday was Megans first clinic visit back at Blank. All of doctors, nurses, and staff were happy to see Megan again. There were smiles and hugs around every corner. While, I would love to never have to go to any hospital or clinic again, the Blank staff has been a wonderful blessing throughout this journey. Earlier that morning, Megan went to another clinic for her weekly ECG. Since they obviously had not looked at her chart, or had any clue what they were looking for/at, mayhem ensued. Her clot and fluid caused a minor panic among the staff and was apparently very unnerving for all involved. Once assured that this was all old news, things settled down a bit. The theme of the day was no news is good news. There were no real changes to Megans treatment. Dr. Woods suggested a supplement to help with the neuropathy. The heartburn medication was added back. So, after another pin cushion blood draw, we were out the door. We later got word that all those results were good. It has been a lazy weekend. Noah is running around outside. Megan had her BFF over for a sleepover last night. More unpacking, more cleaning, and resting for another work week. I have been organizing photos so if you have any of Megan on your phone and want to share, email them to me. I am especially looking for photos with family and friends (the important ones). Thank you all again for your support. Dad
