First, a quick reminder, Other Side Produce will not be delivering - TopicsExpress

First, a quick reminder, Other Side Produce will not be delivering Tuesday September 3rd. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Prices are generally unchanged this week. Lettuces are continuing to hit bottom. Iceberg and Romaine are about as low as they are going to get without a glut of product. Eastern School Apples are coming online this next week from Fifer in Camden. Our Galas have been coming from T.S. Smith in Bridgeville and have been top notch. The apple crop with the exception of Galas (an early apple) should continue on till Christmas. Eastern Veg continues to fall slightly. Peppers and Cucumbers are coming out of New York and Michigan with generally good quality and great prices. Squash has also fallen. We are continuing to get Local Squash. Citrus continues to be a problem. Lemons and Oranges are extremely difficult to get which in turn is killing the prices. We are being told that companies are getting their orders cut in half out west. A freeze in Chile has severely hurt the South American Crop putting a strain on California product. We do not see a quick fix to this issue, so expect higher prices for a time. Tomatoes on the shore are still almost non existent. We have continued to try and source decent quantities at numerous farms with little to no luck. Small Tomatoes are becoming an even larger problem. Cherry Tomatoes are nowhere on the market. We have a line on some but they are few and far between. Burbank Idahoes are still remaining an issue and will continue to be a problem. New crop Baking Potatoes are online but they are predominately all Norkotah Russets. Norkotahs have a different sugar content which make them tend to turn black when deep frying. But as a good note prices should begin to drop on baking potatoes with all the new crop potatoes coming online. We will have to wait and see.
