First and foremost, Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, calls, and texts today!!! My hubby is home and resting in his favorite chair as I type this. Well my day started off like any other, I was cruising through my day visiting pts. Then the call came, first thought was why is he calling me now. He is supposed to be busy and wasnt to call until later this afternoon. Then the voice on the other end did not sound right and was about half incoherent. I said Babe, and he said, Yeah, its me, what are you doing? I said, I am with a patient, why?? Your voice sounds funny. He told me at that moment, he took a hose to the face/mouth. Which in his line of work meant it could be small to massive in size, and by the sound of his voice. I was sick to my stomach immediately. So I finished with the pt I was with, then Holly Snyder thank goodness was able to cover the only one I had left to do yet. I met him at the dentists office with MD cell phone on speed dial so I could get him to someone who could stitch him up the BEST!! He had 4 teeth each were either misaligned or cracked, or both. Huge gash in lower lip that went into the inside of his mouth with flesh hanging out, which of course didnt phase me in the least, but poor girl assisting the dentist looked pale, and Jeff told me later she told him that she thought she was gonna pass out. LOL!! Jeff decided that the dentist told him he could stitch up the lip to might not be as pretty as a plastic surgeon would do but it would be a good job. So he decided to have him do it, I stood and watched him put the lip back together, then waited outside as they fixed the teeth. I have to say I thought he did a good job on the lip, it should be kissable in No time at all. He ended up with approximately 4 stitches inside his mouth, and 14 out across the lip. They had to numb him up good to realign the 4 teeth and bonded them altogether for now. Fractures under the gum line in the teeth were present but hoping they heal if not he is looking at further work on his mouth. The WORST by far for him is that they told him he can ONLY eat soft foods for 4wks, and no biting/chewing on the front teeth. For those who know him will understand. I already went to the store and bought him several things to eat and drink, plus I already whipped him up a pot of crock pot mac n cheese to cook tomorrow for him. I NEVER realized how many times I kiss that man when we are together, lets just say it is way too much, and gonna be a hard habit to break until that mouth heals. LOL!!! So thank you all for praying! THANK GOD it was not near as bad as it sounded on the phone when he called. I have before and after pictures of course, but I have been forbidden to post them. :(
