First, at its New Years Eve, we would like to wish everyone a great and happy 2015. We would also like to thank everyone in the group very much for their continual support throughout the year. We thought about an ideal song for the occassion and found this one by the lovely Sophie Ramsay, who we first featured back in October. Sophie has recently joined the Mediaeval Baebes and this is her version of Auld Lang Syne filmed live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn earlier this month. youtu.be/W99QbJ2DUBA Sophie Ramsay is a singer-song writer from Perthshire in Scotland. She combines original songs with old songs in Scots and Gaelic, and sometimes other languages. In 2013 she released The Glassy Mountain, an album of original songs, produced by iconic Jim Sutherland and featuring performances from some of the best folk and jazz musicians in Scotland and the UK. The album received critical acclaim: Financial Times ****, Rock and Reel ****, fRoots undeniably beautiful listening, Folk Music Worth Hearing a timeless, outstanding work. Her previous CD of Scots songs, Ca the Yowes, had unexpected exposure when one song was featured on Radio 4s Desert Island Discs and another on the 2012 film A Lonely Place to Die. She is working on another, with multi-instrumentalist Matheu Watson and other great Scottish musicians. Sophie performs regularly, often accompanied by jazz French horn maestro Jim Rattigan. sophieramsay/
