First day of orientation at SCF. Went fabulously! Two years as a computer tech, then two years as a data analyst, LEAD succession planning for two years (2007-2009) and employee of the year award (2008), and top it all off with a promotion to senior data analyst (2009) made ANTHC the best place I ever worked. The following four years makes me realize that the mistake of believing in a company was mine all mine. Live and learn. All Native friends of mine do note, if you ever wish to succeed at that company then do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, admit your Native heritage; it is the surest way to be hired into a fill position to contribute to the Native employee percentage (EVERY toilet on that campus is cleaned by a Native by golly!) but will stop any chance at advancing to a position of authority. I say this from 8 years direct experience working there. So this new start at SCF makes me feel anew, anew, anew! Granted, SCF has a very low high-water mark to beat, but it still feels GOOD!
