First field report of 2015….. BONG!!! That was the feeling after hacking through undergrowth, vines, thorns and I looked up to see a MASSIVE conical mound (65 foot high…estimate…rising from the Louisiana delta plain). Huge mound which has not been studied since the mid 1800’s. Thanks to group member William Calvin Stanley. Very close to Poverty Point….which BTW is a UNESCO World Heritage site….maybe this site should join them???
