First full day into the sixties complete. Not so bad. I bounced between two worlds that Im trying to untie; the first, a bit darker... the notion that this coming act is the final stand, time is short, of the essence, and the second, more exhilarating than the first and certainly louder... now is the time for untold potential. Anything is possible and in fact the greatest is yet to come. Time to give up and just do it all. Leave nothing on the table, take no prisoners... the metaphors go on and on. So while I did some physical work around the house - that always feels good - a test of strength and exercise wrapped into one - I tried to focus on whats next. And I think I know at least part of it, the immediate. Sure I want to travel, I want to ensure my childrens future, and I want to grow my love for my wife - even more if thats possible - but I also want to write. I want to write something... now. Starting today. I wont reveal what it is right now, but I will say it isnt the book that everyone has been asking about, encouraging me to do. That still feels a bit in the distance, more pages of time and experience needed to make it complete. And in no way am I talking about an autobiography - not sure Ill ever be comfortable with something like that - I mean, me? Who cares? The world is a bigger place, that feels too insular, too self centered, ego driven, at least at this point. No, its something for television. Back to my roots. There is so much opportunity there today, so many stories we can tell. I also am excited about the expanding technologies and what we actually call television today - so it doesnt have to be huge, a major Network deal. To reach a smaller, compact audience who is able to get more involved, that is exciting. Where they watch, how they watch, is ever changing, but the relationship between story and audience is what excites me. So yes, back to that frontier, where I started with LA LAW. I will continue to do films, my faith based films with Home Theater Films - by the way, very excited for Christian Mingle which will be in selected theaters October 10 (more on that in days ahead) - yes, yet another shameless plug - byut my heart is wanting to tell a longer story. It will be a familiar character to many, a combination of many characters Ive played and a good dose of me - 60 - and all the things and world weve been talking about here for the last couple of years. As I grow this idea Im going to reach out and include all of you, get a feel for the direction - see if Im on solid ground. You are my family and have always been supportive and encouraging, but also a barometer of truth in the real world. In the end, maybe the show will never see a bigger audience and it will only be for us... but thats okay too. Its not the size of the room, but the size of the impact that counts. Thats it, Ill stop rambling here, put my fingers to the keyboard and begin... back to the beginning, from the beginning... a fitting way to start the act. Stay tuned - to steal a phrase!
