First, ignorance is defined as a lack of knowledge. The theory that whites are afraid of black people which is the basis of the hawks business model is based on knowledge of racism in America (i.e. White flight, housing and school district segregation, negative news coverage on blacks, etc.) Thus, how can Steven A. Smith say the comments are based on ignorance (or lack of knowledge) when in fact they are based on the knowledge of core racism in America. The Hawks racist (not ignorant) business model was articulated well by Levenson. In fact, that same business model can be seen today in many businesses. This business model that suggests whites would rather not associate with blacks may actually be the reason why there arent as many affluent blacks as Levenson suggests. For example, if you look at the Fortune 500 companies, what percentage of blacks are sitting at the round table as an executive or board of director? Ill wait. If the Hawks want to fill seats, the solution is to get a true star player. That should be the true business model. The Hawks hasnt had a Lebron or Derrick Rose caliber player since Dominique Wilkins.
