First let me say that I can only be me. Those of you who have known me prior to this new political journey know that I am nothing if I cannot be my authentic self and with that said, I feel compelled to share whats on my heart this morning as I prepare to go cast my votes. I have been so humbled by the warmth and generosity with which I have been received over the last few months. I was absolutely terrified after I decided to run; so much that I wanted to hide, but each of you lifted me up with your smiles, your Likes, your phone calls, your pep talks, your shares, and your downright good ole fashioned kindness and love. As I have gone door to door, I have been met with that same sentiment. People who moments prior were names on a list became deep stares into my eyes and sentiments of good lucks and we need people like yous and steady heartfelt handshakes and even a few hugs. I met a Congolese family of women who need me, us and I, we need them. I saw pride in peoples eyes who had never even met me before. I even made a new sister friend! I share all of this with you this morning with tears streaming down my face because I recognize the magnitude of this moment and no matter how today ends, this part of my lifes journey has changed me. No number of votes can equal the amount of gratitude I feel for the love that has been given and shown me in this life and over these last few months. My greatest hope for all of us is that love keeps us every day of our lives. And now I gotta go cast some votes! Peace and Love yall!!!!
