First of all, Happy BDay Superstar! For those who have said - TopicsExpress

First of all, Happy BDay Superstar! For those who have said Rajinikanth is just a movie star, I have argued all my life saying that he is an absolute regional phenomenon. I still stand by that. He has shown the calm and composure all the time to prove that he genuinely deserves the adulation he has garnered every single time when there is a news about his movie. He is someone on whom you can load enormous responsibility of raking the money that can push the profits of the Tamil film industry and help feed the families of those associated with South Indian Cinema, at least for a little while longer than what other stars are capable of. He is someone on whom you can experiment with huge sums of money and see how far your content and message can reach and he will take it to the unimaginable corners of the world. For the first time, I witnessed what that overloading could negatively result in and I couldnt believe myself. I was sitting shocked and numbed for the whole movie except the intro scene. I will honestly admit that ardent fans like me have set Rajinikanth for a failure with overburdening. He has resorted to people like KS Ravikumar who are well past their prime to bail him out of a disaster and has brought on himself a much bigger disaster than ever before. This is really sad state of affairs for commercial cinema and it will take a lifetime for fanatics to digest my statement. Im not going to shy away from saying this. If this is not said now, there is going to be more calamity in the offing soon. Rajinikanth can single-handedly bring business to table and spins money for the industry. Rajinikanth failing in this manner, is the end of a genre called family-oriented commercial cinema. Period. Think of it, if Rajinikanth cannot, who can? Now he isnt able to do it. Time and health has taken a toll on his abilities. The speed and charm have faded. Its so visible and evident. :( He has been under the watchful eyes, always pitted against huge numbers for profits and this has now led him to make movies that would be rated average and below average. Its just pathetic to see. :( Lingaa is a wild wake up call. I think fanaticism must be drawn a clear boundary to help Rajinikanth choose and do movies that would make both, the audience and the business, equally happy. Rajinikanths USP is that there will be at least one scene in his movies that would promise a repeat audience. One punch scene. One telling interval block at least. Lingaa is half baked and lacked these very basic things. Its come to theatres so under prepared. If nobody listens to messages like these, Lingaa can safely be called the beginning of the end of an era. An era that can never be replicated by any other actor from South India for a long long time to come. It better not be that way. Last but never the least, We love you for all the entertainment you have offered, Thalaiva! You are the finest ever entertainer who helped us forget our sorrows and smile. Im just so pained to see you decline this badly. Wish there is a genuine comeback for you, before you forever call it quits from Cinema. Our love for you will never fade. Happy BDay Style Saamraat! Have a great one! Stay healthy and keep entertaining us!
