First of all I don’t understand why people call their local labels : "HAUTE COUTURE” Do they even know the meaning of haute couture ? It’s a term given to certain couture houses who make and present their clothes in Paris. It’s like a title, it’s earned and not just used. It’s given by The chambre syndicale de la haute couture, France. If a company is creating and selling a certain number of pieces per year and if you are invited only then you can call yourself a haute couture house. Ok then second, “Couture”; This word is being used so liberally like jibber jabber by little hanky panky’s around town, who think that if a piece is embroidered its couture or if its expensive, its couture. Do you even know how much effort goes into the making of a couture piece? How many skilled workers work day and night to stitch it by hand and not on machines? Think again! Then last but not the least, The ones who are exporting gowns from china and calling it couture, i must say ; Shame on you!
