First of all, I want to say that it was a BEAUTIFUL concert last night. Helena’s apartment was aglow in candles and treats for the eyes. Champagne and snacks made the rounds frequently. Our host was amazing and exuberant and so was the audience. Goosebumps when the entire room sang along with Marina’s song, “Dance in my Kitchen” during the encore. BUT… and this is such a HUGE drag to have to write… at some point during the night, it seems that about 60 or 70 euros went missing from the collection box (thankfully, there were still a couple of 50s left at the end of the night). How could this happen after such a beautiful, intimate night of sharing songs together? I am mad. But even more than that, I am hurt. If the person who pocketed our cash think you need the money more than we do, fine. Spend it well. But… As you know, it’s a pretty thin margin for musicians between broke and breaking even. I am writing this post not to get sympathetic comments, but in the off chance that the person who walked off with our cash sees this… perhaps they will have a change of heart and mail the money back to us and restore our faith in people’s ability to do right.
