First of all I would like to thank everyone who responded to my plea for prayers today... As some of you know three dogs were involved in a very freak and unusual fight ...None of the dogs involved were dogs who reside here at Bed Bark & Beyond but all have become an unexpected part of our Pack ... Bed, Bark & Beyond answered a call and met the caller at our vet today and unfortunately one of the dogs involved was already gone.. the two remaining dogs are both male rottweilers who were injured by the same dog who caused the Death of the female Rottweiler. all dogs were properly secured but the dog who attacked was able to bend chain link fence in order to get at the other dogs... I do not want nor will I respond to anyone wishing to question or blame any of the humans involved , this was not a dog fighting situation and I saw the kennel set up with my own two eyes and it was in fact even more secure than some of my very own . This was an unfortunate accident that could not have been foreseen period. One of the surviving dogs had his ear surgically removed at the base (it is completely gone , his secondary wounds have been treated and stitched up and drain tube inserted where needed, He is on pain medications accompanied by antibiotics and is resting at home, The second Male has severe wounds in his arm pit area and hind area along with wounds to both ears and neck, his neck and ear wounds are serious but not as severe as the other wounds, However the trauma, pain and severity has taken its toll on this 9 year old and he was in tremendous pain that caused shock , we rushed him from our regular vets office Willowood Acres Veterinary Clinic over to the emergency surgical team at Blue Pearl specialty & Emergency Center in South Field where he will receive pain management, I.V fluids and prepare for emergency surgery to repair his wounds once he has stabilized. His wounds are so severe and so deep it will literally take surgery to close them up and they will all require drain tubes as well. We lost the female Because her wounds were to severe to save her and she was humanely euthanized , One male has a long road ahead of him but is expected to make a full recovery but it is unknown if he will ever hear out of his injured ear again and One male is still in critical condition awaiting surgery ... This is really all I have at this time but I will do my best to keep you all updated as the information comes to me.. The Doctor said she will be calling me this evening when she knows more. It is policy that no owners or care takers sit with the patients so I was only able to lay with him for a brief while after they had him in the back for nearly 2 hours working on him and in that two hours he had already made a noticeable improvement in my opinion... When we wheeled him in I was devastated and was pretty sure i would never see his sparkly eyes looking back at me ever again but by the time I left I had great hope and believe in his recovery, I understand the grave state he is in but I believe in this dogs will to live , Please pray with conviction and belief as I have.
