First of all, let me tell every Mom out there Happy Mothers Day. Next I would like to share something with you about our Board of Directors. Last night at 6:00 I called our Executive Director, Gail Friend, to tell her of a compliment I read. It was 3 hours after the Woof Walk ended and I thought she would be home. She and her husband and several kennel workers were still at the shelter. They stopped there to find one dog not feeling well and had taken her to the vet. The county dog warden had brought in a severely injured dog who was having emergency surgery done to save its life. Then, they were going to deep clean the kennels so no illness would be present and to protect our other pets. If you ever wonder what our Executive Director does, she doesnt run scared when the going gets rough. Personal life goes aside and you spend hours upon hours protecting those animals. I want to give her a personal thank you for what she does and the 40+ hours she spends at the shelter to make sure things run smooth. Its not an easy job but I can assure each and every person out there....we give our all for those animals. I can just tell her at bingo, as Bruce and Gail Friend and myself volunteer at bingo this afternoon. I am truly blessed to work on the board with these amazing people: Jim Wolfe, Vice President, Vickie Wolfe, Treasurer, Bruce Friend, It Specialist and Recording Secretary, and Gail. Thanks to each of you for your giving hearts and deep passion for those animals. (And, by the way, for those who will say this a campaign letter....be assured it is not. It is just a huge thank you to the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to work with!)
