First of all, please stop saying If Russia invades,... Crimea is part of Ukraine. Russia has already invaded Crimea -- i.e., Russia has already invaded Ukraine. Now, if Russia expands its invasion to the rest of Ukraine, which I worry it is about to do, then the Ukrainians will surprise the world again by fighting back in all possible ways. Thousands upon thousands will die on both sides. This will be nothing new in that part of the world, where earth seems to be particularly thirsty for blood. Russia may be in a position to overrun Ukraine blitzkrieg style, but it will bleed itself out and lose in the end. Russias setback will further degrade the status of this former superpower, whose GDP, as Adrian Karatnycky pointed out on PBS, is now comparable to that of Italy, with all due respect to the Italians. When Russians realize the pain Putin has inflicted on them, they will overthrow him and that wont be a pretty picture either. ------------- I hope I am wrong. I hope Europeans and Americans and others unite in economic, diplomatic and military opposition to Russia so strongly that none of this black scenario will happen.
