First of all, we have the city of Pittsburgh seeking to take - TopicsExpress

First of all, we have the city of Pittsburgh seeking to take religious aspects out of Christmas, changing the name to Sparkle Day. This is no joke! Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. That is what the holiday is about. Christ! So, Pittsburgh decides they still want Christmas but without religious tones, and they call it Sparkle Day. In Minnesota, the state decided to not allow poinsettias to be used as Christmas decorations around the state capital because someone said that poinsettias are a Christian symbol. Really? Nonetheless, Christian symbolism is appropriate during Christmas, because it is a holiday that celebrates the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. There is no other reason for Christmas! During Thanksgiving, one of my churchs members, a teacher in the Colorado Springs area school districts, said that the school system had changed the name of Thanksgiving to Friends Giving, so that it would not have a religious meaning. This is the school system that is supposed to be teaching American history, and part of American history is the first Thanksgiving Day celebrated by the Pilgrims. They thanked God for His blessings. Thanksgiving is about thanking God. This church member who is a teacher, asked a blessing over her meal and several students joined her. This was her Constitutional right, according to the First Amendment. She did not instruct others to pray with her, or lead an official prayer for the Friends Giving meal, but prayed thanks at Thanksgiving for herself, and other Christian students also voluntarily and individually prayed with her as part of their Thanksgiving meal. One student did not want to take part and stepped away. Other teachers were appalled, but there is nothing they or the school district can do nor should do. In fact, the Alliance Defending Freedom has sued this particular school district for previously not allowing free religious expression, and exercising religious discrimination against Christian students. Other lawsuits stand to be filed against other school districts for violating First Amendment rights as well. Alliance Defending Freedom is today fighting back, against the previous bullying of religious freedom by the ACLU. If you do not believe in God or Jesus Christ, you do not have to participate in Christmas or Thanksgiving or Hanukkah, the three holidays that comprise the so-called Holiday Season. Just as the student did at Thanksgiving, or Friends Giving, we each have a free choice. That is what freedom is about. Freedom to choose to participate or not. But those who wish to exercise their faith are free to do so without restriction. Now we turn to an event that took place at the city council meeting for Lake Worth, Florida. Traditionally, the meeting, just as the houses of Congress do as well, opens with an Invocation, and closes with a Benediction. Across America legislative bodies do this. And they are free to do it, protected by the First Amendment. The members of the legislative body freely choose to pray, or to not pray. It is not the government specifying a certain religion on the people, but in full accord with the First Amendment, so says the US Supreme Court, which protected Congress right to prayer in that decision. However, to make a mockery of prayer and God, the city council of Lake Worth, Florida allowed one of the citys local atheists to offer an alternative invocation. While his shameless and offensive mockery comes as utter blasphemy, I am the first to stand up and defend this degenerates right to say his public prayer. That is what the First Amendment protects. All religious rights. I attached the YouTube video of the so-called Atheist Prayer so that you can consider it yourself. I do take note of the several members of the Lake Worth city council and some of the attendees who left the room before this nitwit began his mockery of faith. My parting question is this: Who is this atheist praying to? He names Mother Earth and other false gods, and even Satan, praying to them diligently, yet this man is an atheist. By definition, he does not believe in any Creator or God. Lastly, the television news people and all the stores and public relations people avoid using the term Christmas or Christ and instead plug in the term Holiday. That works as well as Sparkle Day or Friends Giving. They do not wish to offend some minority out there listening. However, at last count nearly 80 percent of the American population professes Christianity as their faith, and they celebrate Christmas. We call it Christmas. And I find it offensive for people to take Christ out of Christmas. So, saying Happy Holidays, or Holiday Tree or Holiday Card or any other reference to Christmas with Holiday substituted is offensive to me and many other Christians. So, what about us? Its OK to offend the majority as long as we do not offend the minority. https://youtube/watch?v=BeBq9gLrnPo
