First off....dont want this to be any more than it is. I wrote a personal post. No different than many of you would have written to your family member. Due to technology, not sure if it got through the condolences or not...so just wanted to save a private message to my Grandma in case I would like to reconnect in the future. Please feel free to like but no sympathy necessary. Grandma, Today is a bittersweet day of reflection. As the eldest grandchild I am grateful for over a half century with you. That is a blessing in itself. I remember Christmas & Easter and Teds rockets and my Green Bay Packer waste basket and riding in the Rambler with Grandpa to go to the Platte fishing. I remember John & Sylvie, and Johnny, and Mike and Chuck, and Debbie, and Peggy and Dicky Grindle and sitting around your kitchen table while you made bean soup. I remember Grandpa letting me ride the lawn mower and the neighbor Mark Baily. I remember Uncle Bills room and his tattoo and the picture of Jesus that hung in your bedroom. I remember how you treasured many of those photos as they hung in your house so many years later. I remember how we couldnt wait for Christmas or Easter or Summer vacation to come visit you. It was a 1-1/2 hour drive. Back then sooooo far away.. I now drive that far before 8am most days. I remember Mainger, and your bathroom and the garage where there was always a car or go-cart or souped up bicycle being painted or tweeked or removed from Elm Street by the Platteville police. I remember Moons Grocery Store. I remember Great Grandma (Hazel) and Aunt Gusty and Aunt Joe and Christmas pajamas, and sweater vests, and Scotty and most of all...just listening to all of the stories in the kitchen and watching to see who came knocking at the door to stop by. Later in life I enjoyed our visits and reminiscing about the past. Today I thank God for your love, generosity and the many blessings that only Grandmas know how to give. Love Matt
