First off, thank you for approving my request. Second, as with you all, I hold LIW very dear to my heart. I didnt read the series as a young girl or teen. I read them to my children in 2011, my mid 30s. I loved how my son would say, mama, these books make me so hungry! Laura inspired me to cook so many things and look at life differently. I was so inspired, I arranged a family vacation with the destination of DeSmet. While at the homestead, I willed myself not to cry while looking upon the vistas the Ingalls saw, I was truly moved. I went on the home tours, the graveyard, and even found where Laura and Mary meet up with the wolf while sledding. I met wonderful people while visiting and felt like I was home. We were interviewed by the local paper as well, my friends all say, Well, of course you were, you are hard core about Laura! In the end, I believe myself more of a fan of Charles, his spirit, his love of his family, his sense of adventure.
